Canton i Hong Kong Restaurant

Queensbay Mall is a place where you can find a various of restaurant for you meal. There’s 2 Hong Kong food restaurant in Queensbay Mall, one is Kim Gary and another is Canton-i. If you may have not know, Canton-i is brought to you buy the same company of the famous Shanghai’s Siao Long Bao restaurant, Dragon-i.

love Chinese Hong Kong food a lot and recently I’ve been there with my family. I didn’t know where it was at first until I asked from the lady at the information counter and then she guided me to it. It’s located on the ground floor
on the North Zone of the mall.
Before coming here, I read some reviews online and heard about friends talked about it, most of their comment were about the price, it’s indeed a little bit expensive comparing to other Hong Kong food
restaurant.

We ordered egg tart. There’s 4 of us, but there’s only 3 tarts. The filling is hot when it’s served. The side of the tart was not crispy enough though. The sweetness is just right but then I’ll say it’s still not the best egg tart in town yet. You can try this and tell me what do you think.

This is a plate of Roasted Pork / Siu Yok (Cantonese) / Sio Bak (Hokkien) / Shao Rou (Mandarin) and roasted duck. The roasted pork is nicely cut and the skin at the top part of the meat is crispy though this taste a little bit salty. A dip in mustard taste good. As for the roasted duck, I like this more than the roasted pork because the roasted pork still lose to the one at Crystal Jade Kitchen (it’s just my 2 cents).

2 must ordered dim sum at every restaurant that has dim sum in their menu are the Har Kao and Siu Mai . Har Kao is Chinese dumplings fill with shrips while Siu Mai is also dumplings but with chopped shrimp and ground pork fillings. I
seriously don’t like the idea of serving 3 Har Kaos with the price of RM9 per plate which mean RM3 per Har Kao. This indeed sounds expensive.
Let’s not talk about the price for a moment and back to the food. It’s a little bit salty
which makes me felt thirsty after eating it. The shrimp is huge enough in Har Kao and surprisingly the Siu Mai too has big shrimp. Though, I just had that say that they’re “so-so” only. The taste just haven’t make feels like it’s bombastic
and superb. Hehe.

Some other foods that we ordered were the Yao Choy , mixed noodle combo of roasted pork and wan tan and a wan tan noodle.
Yao Choy is always our favourite dish and will-order when we’re at a Hong Kong food restaurant, it’s also known
as the Asian cabbage. However this Yao Choy tasted a little bit light, I suggest more oyster sauce should be added while cooking. Hehe. As for the Wan Tan, it’s good so do the noodle. The noodle is crisp and it’s not like any noodle in the
street here. The mixed combo is just the same noodle but it’s serves dried with the roasted pork and a bowl of 2 Wan Tans.
One thing I don’t like was that we payed the service tax but we still have to go to the counter to do our
billing. I don’t like this. Sorry that I have to say that I prefer Crystal Jade Kitchen than this. Though, it’s good to see such a nice restaurant in Penang. I suggest that price of food should be lowered too. Hehe. What do you think?
